Thought I’d attempt to deliver more than a discussion on enlightenment in this blog. The actual experience of this state is so much more satisfying and simpler than one would imagine so let’s give it a go.
Indian philosophy denotes 5 elements - earth, water, fire, air and akasha (space). Let’s focus on air and akasha. These two elements are an easy transition to consciousness.
While sitting comfortably look around you in somewhat of a non-focused manner. You see the objects but you don’t let yourself register much by way of distinction or delineation. See these objects as just stuff around you with no particular attraction or engagement.
Now in your vision step back a bit to see the air between your eyes and the object. Notice everywhere you look there is air. Let your vision and in turn your mind absorb that. Rest in this state for a while, a few seconds or perhaps minutes, whatever feels comfortable.
Yeah, there’s air all around us. Some of it we see. Some we don’t. Rest with that thought.
That air can be seen or thought of as space as well. Rest with that for a few moments.
Space is everywhere.
Seen/felt all around us, within the objects we are seeing. Through those objects. Beyond those objects expanded to an infinite distance even. Rest with that for a moment.
Understand that that “space” can also be thought of or felt as consciousness. Available between, through and beyond everything we see and even what we don’t see. It’s endless. Rest with that for a moment.
This awareness is a simple state of simply being what is. Our real nature is this. Consciousness. Seen, felt, known. There is nothing we are not. We are everything. Everywhere. Forever.
This is the simple experience of enlightenment. Rest with it.
